Mitch Phillips - The Voice Over Artist
Internet, television, movies, radio - all of these subject us to a plethora of sights and sounds; so what sets them apart? The voice over artist. It's their job to create unique movie trailer and commercial voices, to establish qualitative sense memory. We hear the voice and we remember the specific radio ad or commercial; we've come to depend upon the voice over as the most recognizable sound in the industry, even above jingles and slogans.
Mitch Phillips, a voice over artist (or as he calls it, a 'voice talent') based in Parkland, Florida, is among the few who have the gift of creating the truly unique voice. He has an impressive list of voice overs to his credit, some of which can be found at his YouTube channel, mpvoice.
Mitch loves his work as a voice over artist, and who wouldn't? He's also a self-professed workaholic, ready to do a voice over job on short notice and at odd times.
There are a few times when you don't want to hear his voice, for instance, if you happen to be drinking and driving. Check out this public service message that he voiced over for the US Department of Transportation.

There are a broad range of voice types that potential customers could be interested in. Now obviously, there's some stuff Mitch simply can't do on his own - for example, his voice is anything but feminine. (Though if you [
get in touch with him], he might be able to set you up with someone who is more suited to your needs. Just one of the benefits of knowing someone who's been active in the Voice industry for a while.)
The voice types Mitch can provide range from 'young adult male', 'middle aged male' and 'senior male'. If you've listened to some of the work he's done, you'll notice that he can also project his voice to a deep dark macho type that has been popular for various uses, including sports and movie trailers.
In addition to providing the voice, Mitch also offers a range of ancillary services through his media company, Phillips Media Inc. These include copywriting, editing and finishing, radio ad production and voice direction. In addition, he can add special effects or music to any project.
He works in a state of the art custom designed voice studio featuring high end microphones from Neumann and Soundelux, as well as top audio equipment and recording and editing software. Mitch offers many options to deliver the audio from his studio to your computer including e-mail, FTP download, ISDN, as well as Phone Patch, and Source Connect. I've been categorized as a power voice, and movie trailer voice. But in reality, my mainstay has been commercials, voiceovers and promos for radio, television, satellite, sports teams, corporate presentations, and voices for websites. There is more to the story, but that should provide a little sketch!

Mitch has worked as a Production Director at WZTA-FM, a Voice Talent Artist at WZTA and WINZ, and as Air Staff, DJ, Announcer, and Voiceover specialist at WRKI (I95FM), WPIX-FM and WQHT Hot 97. He's worked at lots of other places too, and you can see a full list at his linkedIn profile here.
His current projects include working with radio and television stations including KTTH in Seattle, WNSP in Mobile, WFOR-TV in Miami, Nation's TV in Kenya, Sirius Gold Sirius Satellite Radio and many more. He works with network and cable outlets, ad agencies, websites and many users who want Mitch's voice to deliver their message and brand their product, service or show.
